RSU 1 Lego Robotics Club

RSU 1 Lego Robotics Club
2014-15

The RSU 1 Lego Robotics Club is a 7th and 8th grade organization focused on building robots to compete in the annual Maine Robotics Track Meet.  The meets are held in the spring, which provides participants with ample time to try out their ideas, learn from their experiences, and fine-tune their robots.  Members of the Lego Robotics Club will meet twice per week.  In order to remain in good standing as a member of the club, consistent attendance is required.

All robots are made using Legos and are controlled by Lego Mindstorm EV3 programmable bricks.  EV3s are programmed using computers and control up to four motors and receive messages from up to six different sensors (sound, distance, color, light, gyroscope and touch).  The different events at the annual track meets can be found here:  http://www.mainerobotics.org/track-meet.html

If you are in 7th or 8th grade and are interested in being considered for the club, please answer the following questions (with complete sentences!).

7th Grade Algebra Prognosis Test

It is that time of year again when all 7th graders will take the algebra prognosis test. The Orleans-Hanna Test is designed to help students find out how well they might learn algebra. It contains five lessons, each followed by a test. Finally, there is a review test that covers the lessons as well as other middle-school math content. The annual 7th grade prognosis test will take place on Thursday this week. To determine which students will be taking Algebra 1 next year staff will use the Orleans-Hanna Test results, NECAP and NWEA scores, grades in all classes this year and student work ethic. A letter will be sent home shortly to those students that will have the opportunity to be more challenged in Honors Algebra 1 next year in 8th grade.
If you have questions please contact Mr. Rice or Mr. Hixon at BMS.
